Last night I spent a long time putting my things in my two suitcases, and weighing them on the bathroom scale. I already have to pay extra for a second bag, so my goal was to not have to pay even more for an oversized bag. And I did it, after many weigh-ins and transferring items between the two, I made each weigh 48 lbs, and luckily the airport scales were calibrated in my favor when I checked the bags in an hour ago. Thats 95 lbs of checked baggage plus over 30 lbs carry-on. I packed more than my weight, you do the math. Naturally this marathon package and weight workout was followed by a mother/daughter trip to GoBerry for some fro yo, where I also saw a few of my good smithie friends :)
This morning my mom and I took a nice run over the river, and I finished zippin bags etc. I also ran next door to say goodbye to my baby boys, which was really difficult. After 3 years I'm so invested in them, but I know they will be there when I get home in December. Also their new nanny, Rachael, is a friend of mine so I will be able to Skype with them while I'm away. Then it was home for a final goodbye to my kitties, Monster and Birdie. Leaving would be so much easier if I could bring my baby boys and my kitties with me!
My mom and I hit the road, checked in at JFK, and now I'm sitting here at Gate 8 waiting for my flight to board. I'll arrive in Madrid at 7:25 am, which is 1:25 am east coast time. Hopefully I'll be able to get some sleep on the flight so I'll be semi-functional tomorrow when our group meets and we travel to Salamanca for a few days to "acclimate to Spanish culture."

I already miss Smith, Northampton, and Summer. But my hope is that these next 3.5 months are so fantastic that they will fly by. Nos vemos!
Ok- boarding time. Me voy!
PS. This is what I'll be listening to as my flight takes off: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLQAAxcBTQs&feature=youtube_gdata_player
