I love warm weather, but now that my friends and family are starting to post pictures on facebook of the beautiful New England fall colors and talk about eating apples in the orchard, I'm beginning to think that I miss the warm fall days and the refreshing and sometimes frosty nights. Cordoba is cooling down a bit, but only during the night. I like to sleep in cooler temperatures and curl up under the blankets, so I've been sleeping really well recently with the chilly night air moving in.
The daytime, however, is another story. We were talking in my Geography class today about how hot it has been recently. My professor said that this month of October heat has broken the previous record from 1943 by nearly 2 degrees Celsius. I'm not sure exactly what the conversation factor is, but I know its significant. According to my widget on my computer desktop, the temperature has been well into the 90's almost every day this week. I packed a limited number of warm weather clothes, so I'm really sick of wearing them after a month and a half. I'd really like some cooler temperatures so I can have more variety in my wardrobe and incorporate my fall clothes.
Anyways, aside from hot weather and the usual class regimen, today was great. During guitar class the teacher pulled me and Anna, another Preshquita, aside and taught us a more advanced harmony to a song we're learning since we've both already played a bit. It was nice to have more of a challenge- the beginner stuff can get boring after a few classes when you already know a bit about tuning and playing the instrument.
Dinner tonight was normal! Maricarmen made the traditional tortilla de patata, which is an egg and potato omelet-like thing, and while she was out with the dogs, I made a salad with ingredients from the fridge. Not only did it feel good to cook something normal-ish, but it tasted amazing.
After dinner I went out to a jazz club with some friends and we hung out for a bit and had drinks. A bunch of the Preshquitas were going out to another bar afterwards and then to clubs, but I'd rather sleep. I have to take advantage of the cool night air! And besides, we're going to Granada this weekend and I'm sure I'll get my fill of fiestas there.
