"Sigue" means continue, or in a more colloquial sense, keep on keeping on. That's essentially what I've been up to these past two days. Yesterday morning Kim, Amber, and I went for a run around the esplanade, and then back home in time to shower and go to class. After class Kim and I met Craighton and Adam, two boys form our Portugal trip, who were here in town visiting through today, and went and got lunch and spent the afternoon running around town until we had class.
After classes, the Preshquitas had a cocktail hour with our new Compañeros de Conversación (conversation partners). I have two partners, Raisa and Nadia, who are both native Spanish speakers from UCO who are also trying to learn English. The hope is that we'll be able to meet up and converse once a week or so and we can all practice speaking in our "opposite" language. They're also really excited to show the Preshquitas around Córdoba nightlife- after our cocktail hour last night we went to an opening at a club called Mansull and danced until 2am.
Needless to say last night was fun, but I was tired when I got up this morning when I got up to do tourist-y things with Craighton and Adam, including a second visit to the amazing Mezquita, brunch at Sojo, and a sampling of sangria and salmorejo. Today was a holiday for UCO students to celebrate the beginning of the academic year, even though we officially started a few weeks ago. We have holidays for everything, including Spanish national holidays, European Union holidays, and various (and frequently occurring) local festivities. I really can't complain at all; my classes are easy and I have plenty of time to explore and take in the Spanish culture. Also, it was especially nice to have today off since it was Mountain Day at Smith- what a happy coincidence!
This afternoon/evening a group of Preshquitas hung out at Cien Montaditos before Sevillanas class, and enjoyed some tapas together. After dance though (and more specifically late bed and early rise), I was ready to come home and relax, eat dinner, and get to exactly where I am now: eating nutella in bed, about to turn off the lights.
