I don't melt in the rain

People here in Spain seriously think that rain will make you sick. I went for a run this morning and it was about 65 and damp out, but perfect for exercising. As I passed all the bus stops all the Spaniards were bundled in down coats and scarves. Some of them were kind enough to yell out to me, running along in shorts and a t-shirt, to "put clothes on before I end up in the hospital." Seriously? I'm not going to die because I exercise in cooler weather. In fact, I'll probably live longer because I exercise way more than these Spaniards do. Yes, when I got home I was sweaty and damp, but it was a great run. I couldn't have asked for better conditions.

On a similar note, Maricarmen has turned on the heat in the house now that the daily average is below 70F. The heat comes from through the stone floor, but here in Spain you always wear shoes in the house. If you don't wear shoes, they think you're going to get the flu. However, by wearing shoes the entire heating system is essentially negated. I'm no biologist or doctor, but bare feet and rain are not how you get sick. Sometimes this country really astounds me.
