Last night my goal was to fall into bed and go to sleep. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. Once I got home and started looking at my emails, I realized that class registration for Spring 2012 at Smith College is next week and I need to email my advisor and put together a proposal for classes. I love the Architecture program, but as I see it now, I have to change my major to just Art History. Architecture has more studio requirements on top of academic classes, so I would have to take almost strictly studios and other Art History classes to finish my major in the final three semesters of college. One studio per semester is killer; two is unfathomable. If I change to Art History, I'll have more flexibility. Besides, Architecture is more of a graduate school degree. By only committing to Art, I leave more doors open. Nonetheless, I managed to get myself sufficiently freaked out about requirements and didn't fall asleep until 2am. I think I have it all figured out though... I hope.
This morning I had to get up early (9am- ha) and finish up a few papers that were due today that I didn't manage to get done in the London Café, and I went to classes. During my second class, Music with Pilar, there was a knock on the door from the PRESHCO office intern that I had received a HUGE package from my Nana in Colorado. Henceforth she will be referred to as Her Royal Food Goddess. Pilar insisted that because she is also a grandma, that I open and enjoy its contents immediately and spread it all out on the classroom floor for observation. No protests on my part- I have been enjoying every bit of it! It included:
- 10 trailmix-type bars
- 4 different types of crackers, including a box of roasted garlic Triscuits
- 3 bags of Reese's
- 2 jars of peanut butter
- 2 bags of dried cherries
- 1 box of mixed nuts and seeds
- 1 box of prunes
- 1 bag of whole wheat tortillas
- and 1 amazing grandmother-ly note
The package seriously made my day, and all four girls in my class enjoyed tortillas with peanut butter and some Reese's on the spot. I'm so looking forward to enjoying this food when I come back from my runs. Thank you, Her Royal Food Goddess!! You're the best.
I was so tired that I was considering not going to Sevillanas tonight, but after receiving my package I was in such a good mood that I decided to go stomp around anyways. Sometimes I think I'm an ok dancer, but tonight I was legitimately terrible. I try, I really do, but my coordination is so limited and the music goes so fast... I was happy when class ended a few minutes early and I got to go home and call Her Royal Food Goddess and thank her for the package and eat some more food. Since then, I've been catching up on work and working on a few more details for Spring 2012. Today marks six weeks until I'll be home in Northampton, which is exciting, strange and sad. I can't believe I'll be home that soon. As much as I refused to admit it would back on September 1st, time is flying by.
