13.11.11

I went for a 6 mile run and ran a half marathon (13.1)

As if the title doesn't say it all. I don't know why I felt so strong today, but I had one of the best runs ever, and completed 13.1 miles in 1:50:37, which is approximately 8:27 per mile. Unfortunately I don't know what the course is for the Córdoba Medio Maratón, which is exactly two weeks from today, but I did go all around the city, including a park that looks down on the Córdoba from the foothills of the mountains, my entire usual 6 mile loop, to my gym on the other side of the city, to another running park, and down by the river. Aside from the other half marathons that I've run, this is the farthest I've ever run in one shot. I did do 11 miles a few times this summer at the lake, but not for training for anything official. Anyways, knowing that I can do (and not just on marathon day) it makes me feel really good about myself. I'll be ready to go in two weeks!
Ready! Let's do it!

I'm not sure what inspired Maricarmen, but when I got back from a run she was cooking mountains of cheesy pasta- yummhurray! Needless to say, I ate several large piles and two servings of salad. If there was ever a successful food day in España, this was it. Praise be!

I also ate frozen yogurt at a café later this afternoon when I was working on my politics project on Spain's healthcare system with Christina, another Preshquita. Not that I haven't been productive working here at the house, but it was nice to be out in a café and seriously powering through the presentation. We should be able to finish the rest of it by shooting versions of the powerpoint back and forth on email.

Since the time changed, its started to get dark earlier, though hardly early compared to Northampton at this time of year. I'd say it gets dark around 6:30 or 7. Anyways, on my way home I walk past Reyes de Alcazar, the old royal gardens, which are always lit up at night. I'm not sure how I feel about the blue light in the tower, but the overall ambiance was so pretty I just had to take a picture.

Since then, I've been Skyping with my dear Christopher at Duke, and planning the itinerary for next week. Si todos los días podría ser tan relajado ya la vex tan productivo y delicioso como hoy, me gustaría ser una mujer afortunada. Pero, de nuevo, soy una mujer afortunada ya.
